A special funnel or diffuser installed at the top of the filter.
Even water distribution: during filtration, water enters through a funnel at the top and is evenly distributed over the entire surface of the filter medium (sand or glass media).
Protection against sand entering the system: During backwashing or filling the pool, the funnel helps prevent the filter media from getting directly into the center pipe or return line.
Ease of maintenance: makes it easier to pour new sand/glass into the filter by directing it around the internal pipes and preventing it from entering the standpipe.
