Flush or rail-and-stile: explained simply

Sales staff mention these two types first but rarely explain them. A short guide: what is inside the leaf and what it means for you.

Flush doors

The leaf is one piece: a timber frame, honeycomb core inside and MDF facing on top. The surface is even — plain or decorated with moulding, milling or a mirror insert. This is the most common type of interior door on the market.

Rail-and-stile doors

The leaf is assembled from vertical solid-wood stiles joined by horizontal rails. Glass is often fitted between them — satin or black.

The practical difference

  • Look: flush doors are calmer and more uniform; rail-and-stile doors have visible relief from the stiles and rails.
  • Glass: more common in rail-and-stile models.
  • Decor: a solid flush leaf can take moulding, milling or a mirror insert.

How our doors are built

Every series we sell — ETALON, NOMINAL, FREZZATTI, PERFETTO and the hidden-frame doors — is flush. Frame from 80×27 mm timber, honeycomb core with 18 mm cells, 4–6 mm MDF facing depending on the series. Finish — PVC film or RAL / NCS paint.

For most flats a flush door is the practical choice: the leaf is stable, keeps its shape, and decor does not complicate installation.
